Mozilla L10n Hackathon Bangkok (Part 2)

Hello again. I’ve talked about the first day in the previous post so now let’s go straight to the second day!

Day 2 (30 August)

Second day started with warm up session aka spectogram (minus the post-it notes). Spectogram is a common activity in Mozilla to begin a discussion and debate on any topic and this time is about l10n. The warm up session was led by Jeff and it went just well. Then after the warm up, we went inside and start the group discussion. We grouped by our local team and the staff help us to discuss some topics like sustainability, recognition, and many more. We sum up our discussion in post-it notes and we were given time to present our discussion result in the afternoon.

MozillaPH visits Bangkok | 2015Sir Bob from Philippines talked about recognition.

MozillaPH visits Bangkok | 2015Vee Satayama from Thailand.

While in the first day we listen more to the staff, the second day is our time to speak up. We were given a lot more time to express our thought, face to face discussion with the staff, talked about hurdles we faced in our local team, and also hear from the other team about their experiences. If I may say, all sessions in the second day was my favorite ever. Maybe because I can actually interact with each others during the sessions.

After the group photo, I joined the Pinoy team and we went to Mc Donald near our hotel. I’m thinking to have spicy chicken there but too bad that even the chili sauce in Thai McD was not spicy at all. Pheeew! But at least I enjoy the time there with Pinoy team because they all were so funny. Too bad we didn’t take any photo there because we busy with our own meals. ((:

But despite the chickens that I have in McD, I still manage myself to join the dinner that night. Haha. Though I didn’t eat much there. But hell yeah there was ice cream in our dinner menu. So I was a happy girl that night even if I came there the last one and I should walked from the hotel alone. Haha. Everyone was already departed when I just finished shower and pray. So yeah..

Then after the dinner at Boutique restaurant, I join the others to go to the night market. I finally had a chance to explore Bangkok. Yippiee! :D

We took the MRT to Siam station. We arrived at around 9:30PM then split up and promised to get back to the hotel at 11PM. But it didn’t went on plan because the night market was not that big so basically we went back to the hotel earlier.

Post-event (31 August)

Didn’t do much in my last day in Bangkok. I only visit the supermarket in front of the hotel where I stayed. Bought some snacks to brought home which mostly was green tea flavor then went to the airport right afterward. I heard that some mozillians from the other team stay a little longer in Bangkok. Too bad I straightly went home the next day after the event because basically I don’t know if we can rearrange the schedule from the travel agent. But never mind! Because it would be less fun even if I extend my stay because I will be just alone. Phew.

IMG_0182Another exhausted-face-selfie after arrived at the gate. Pardon for the selfies, since I was alone all the way home, so yeah.. :b

It was an awesome experience to be able to met a lot of mozillians there. Despite the fact that I just realized yesterday that I lost my digital camera in the baggage. I was indeed too naive to think that everyone is basically a good people. Fufufuuu. And also, I left my phone charger in the hotel (blame my absent-minded head).

I also learn a lot during my first overseas trip. I should not left any electronic stuff in the baggage and my MRT card in entrance gate anymore (haha). I should bring my own sauce in the next overseas trip if I don’t want to starve to death in foreign country :b. I supposed to bring my stuff in a suitcase instead of backpack if I don’t want to be a lackluster tourist. But anyway, it was a 4 days full of new experiences and now I came back to Indonesia with new spirit.
